After his uncle disappears in a in a space transit accident, Alex Benedict, an antiques dealer, tries to unravel the mysterious project his uncle was working on. His investigation leads him into discovering the secret history behind a war humanity fought with an alien race. The big mystery does a nice job of driving the story forward, but the story is fairly dull, the characters are somewhat flat, and the big reveal is ultimately predictable and slightly disappointing.
