'NPCs' by Drew Hayes
'NPCs' by Drew Hayes

What if the worlds you imagined while playing Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) turned out to be real, and the Non-Player Characters (NPCs) that are in the background of those worlds came to life, and led their own adventures?

It’s an interesting premise, but for the most part, it plays out as a fairly standard fantasy tale, with a group of adventurers (a paladin, a rogue, a barbarian, and a wizard) traveling the land, and interacting with, and sometimes fighting with, goblins, demons, elves, and orcs. Drew Hayes’ writing is just good enough where I’m willing to try out the next book in the series, but so far, this one doesn’t compare to his Super Powereds or Villain’s Code series.
