The good
-
Intriguing premise / central mystery that grabs you right from the start. The book does a nice job of slowly exploring the mystery and gradually revealing more and more.
-
Good world-building. It really feels like a foreign place.
The not so good
-
The reveal at the end seems clever initially, and there are some aspects of it I like, but when you actually think about it, it doesn’t make much sense, and it feels like it wastes the premise.
-
The characters don’t feel like actual people, but more like automatons to push the plot along.
