'Fool Moon' by Jim Butcher
'Fool Moon' by Jim Butcher

The good

  • This book introduces werewolves—multiple types of werewolves, in fact—into the series, which is interesting.

  • The combo of noir detective mixed with fantasy monster battles is still fun.

The not so good

  • The book leaned way too hard into making the werewolves as violent and hyper sexualized and violently hyper sexualized as possible. It felt gross and cartoony.

  • The first book seemed a bit funnier and snarkier than this one. This one took itself a bit too seriously.

  • The “with great power comes great responsibility” angle felt cheesy.
