'Defiant' by Brandon Sanderson
'Defiant' by Brandon Sanderson

Book 1 was decent; book 2 was even better; book 3 was a bit of a bust. So I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. As it turns out, book 4 is a pretty solid conclusion to the series.

  • The story goes back to (mostly) focusing on the fun characters and world building from the first two books, rather than the weird, overly magical stuff from the third book.

  • Most of the key plot points are wrapped up.

  • Decent action, pacing, and a few good twists.

  • A little too sappy and heavy on the “love and friendship will save us all” theme.
