'The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue' by V.E. Schwab
'The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue' by V.E. Schwab

The good

  • A lovely premise of a girl who is cursed so that no one can remember her.

  • The book makes good use of the premise, exploring many of the implications.

  • The various scenes of Addie throughout history are highly entertaining.

  • Addie and Luc are fun, intriguing characters.

  • Lovely writing.

  • Some touching and moving scenes.

The not so good

  • When Henry is first introduced, it’s an amazing, poignant part of the story; but the more I saw of him and his friends & family, the less believable they were. They all felt too contrived and sappy; too much of a contrast to the tough & gritty life that Addie lived.

  • The premise is a lot of fun and really gets your imagination going, and while the book did a good amount with it, I found myself wanting even more; more Addie; more of her life through history; more of her battle with Luc. I suppose that if a book leaves you wanting more, that’s probably a good thing :)
