Had trouble putting this one down. It starts with a simple hook—Nate finds an apartment that is suspiciously cheap and after moving in starts noticing more and more oddities in the apartment building—but the desire to see the mystery unraveled worked well to grab me. The characters are amusing, the writing is gripping, and the sense of discovering ever larger and darker secrets is quite effective at keeping you reading. The big reveal turns out to be a bit absurd, but I think we read stories like this precisely to be exposed to the absurd, so as long as you’re prepared for the ridiculous and bizarre, I think you’ll enjoy this book.
