The good: it’s well written, full of fun characters (Croup, Vandemar, the Marquis), imaginative, and keeps you turning the pages.
The bad: too much poorly defined magic, so there is a “deus ex machina” way out of every situation, and you never feel like there’s much at stake. I guess that’s pretty typical for the fantasy genre tough.
Overall: an entertaining, quick read, that probably won’t stick with you for too long.
