This book is a so-so whodunnit / thriller. The mystery in the story and the plot twists keep you reading, and they are somewhat memorable, but unfortunately, that’s all the book has going for it. The writing isn’t great, the dialog isn’t great, and the plot, if you take a step back and really think about it, is a bit ridiculous. But the biggest issue of all is that the characters are all profoundly unlikable and unrealistic—they feel like cartoon characters—so I never really cared what happened to them and did not get emotionally invested in the story. As a result, the twists, while surprising, were largely unmoving, and when I finished the story, my primary reaction was a shrug. In short: meh.
