'Jurassic Park' by Michael Crichton
'Jurassic Park' by Michael Crichton

A fun, entertaining, action-filled book with a fun (pseudo) scientific premise that mixes biology, genetics, and chaos theory. Also, dinosaurs!

The biggest downside is the characters. They are all little more than plot devices designed to move the story forward and occasionally chime in with some witty dialog. None of them react the way a person would: no astonishment, no real fear, no joy. They don’t feels or act like a real human beings. In all honestly, you don’t particularly care if they live or die. In fact, you often find yourself rooting for the dinosaurs, who are usually far more interesting and lifelike than the people!

Despite that, it’s still a fun tale, and worth reading. Likewise, Spielberg’s classic movie adaptation is worth seeing. It’s a bit of a toss-up which one is better, which is a rarity in the world of book/movie adaptations.
