A post-apocalyptic story where much of civilization gets wiped out by a plague that turns people into drones that get stuck in endless loops, and a woman named Candace who almost doesn’t notice because she’s too busy working a boring desk job where she often feels like a drone stuck in an endless loop. It’s a clever idea, but unfortunately, the book doesn’t do much with it.

The story alternates between the present, where the book somehow manages to make surviving the apocalypse sound a bit boring, and the past, where the story walks you through Candace’s unsatisfying life. Somehow, amidst a chaotic and occasionally fascinating background (especially as Candace wanders the streets of an abandoned NYC), the story manages to be a bit dull.
