'The Defense' by Steve Cavanagh
'The Defense' by Steve Cavanagh

The good

  • An interesting protagonist: a lawyer who is a former conman (is there a difference?).
  • Exciting, fast-paced story that grabs you from the first page.
  • Clever twists and turns, and some good competence porn.
  • A reasonably satisfying conclusion.

The not so good

  • Some of the twists and turns are improbable, to say the least. But that’s pretty typical for this sort of novel.
