The good
- Some fun action scenes.
The not so good
-
A ridiculously obvious “reveal.” The book tries to slow roll it, and everyone acts shocked when Dirk Pitt finally reveals the truth, but it was clear what it would be 20 pages into the book, so it was painful to see all the ado around it.
-
Super cringey “romance,” if you can even call it that. This feels like a book from the James Bond of the 60s era, where men would slap women to help them come to their senses, and it just did not age well.
-
Lame villain who monologues.
-
Dirk Pitt is a bit too smart, and it gets really old hearing characters in the book say “only Dirk Pitt could’ve solved this.”
