'Lucifer's Hammer' by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle

The good

  • An interesting premise: what would happen to humanity if earth was hit by a massive comet.

  • Once the story starts focusing on post-apocalyptic survival, it gets pretty interesting, with a decent mix of action and social commentary.

The not so good

  • The part before the post-apocalyptic survival feels too long.

  • Most of the characters feel wooden and two-dimensional. The women are little more than sex objects.
