A charming murder mystery. There’s a cute town, fun characters, an interesting protagonist (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache), lovely writing, some decent detective work, a few clever twists & turns, and a reasonably satisfying ending. It’s not reinventing the genre or doing anything truly novel, but it’s a competently executed mystery/crime book, and it makes for entertaining reading.
