'Zoe's Tale' by John Scalzi
'Zoe's Tale' by John Scalzi

The good

  • Zoe is a very fun character.

  • Zoe’s relationship with her parents, her friends, and Hickory and Dickory is genuinely touching. There are some very emotional scenes in this story that hit hard.

  • It’s interesting to see the previous book, The Last Colony, retold from a different viewpoint.

The not so good

  • A little bit cheesy / young adult at times.

  • I’m not sure there’s quite enough here for a totally standalone book. I wonder if the beautiful relationships in this story, had they been added to The Last Colony, wouldn’t have made for a single, spectacular book.
