'The Marylebone Drop' by Mick Herron
'The Marylebone Drop' by Mick Herron

The good

  • An occasional bit of fun dialog and tongue-in-cheek humor.

  • Introduces the backstory for one of the new members of Slough House.

The not so good

  • None of the other members of Slough House are in the story. In fact, the only character you’ll recognize is Taverner. She’s great, but let’s face it: we read this series for Jackson Lamb and his antics, and without it, it’s just not the same.

  • The plot is pretty convoluted. It usually is in the Slough House series, but as this one doesn’t have any of the Slough House crew to keep you entertained, it felt like the whole story was just convoluted plot.
