The good
-
An interesting setting: Italy in the 90s, mafia, police, etc.
-
Montalbano is a reasonably interesting character (despite meeting just about all the detective cliches of being a lone man who drinks to much, never sleeps, etc).
-
Decent writing, plotting, and pacing.
The not so good
- The plot felt overly convoluted and you never really got a satisfying reveal.
