'The Shape of Water' by Andrea Camilleri
'The Shape of Water' by Andrea Camilleri

The good

  • An interesting setting: Italy in the 90s, mafia, police, etc.

  • Montalbano is a reasonably interesting character (despite meeting just about all the detective clichés of being a lone man who drinks too much, never sleeps, etc.).

  • Decent writing, plotting, and pacing.

The not so good

  • The plot felt overly convoluted, and you never really got a satisfying reveal.
