'A Man Called Otto' by Fredrik Backman

The good

  • A heart-warming, feel-good story, with some really tragic parts along the way. Some parts are quite predictable, and some a bit cheesy, but despite all that, you still can’t help but be affected by it: the happy parts will make you smile, the darker parts will make you sad.

  • An interesting look at love, friendship, loneliness, family, and the kind of struggles we all go through.

  • Great characters. We all know someone like Ove (AKA Otto). And we all know his friends. Also, I liked the cat.

  • Great writing.

The not so good

  • The story is a bit predictable and cheesy at parts.
