'Wool Omnibus' by Hugh Howey
'Wool Omnibus' by Hugh Howey

The good

  • Intriguing central premise: a society living in a giant underground silo, while the world outside seems destroyed and toxic, and no one seems to know how they got there.

  • Does a nice job of exploring the central mystery with plenty of good action, suspense, and pacing.

  • Does a nice job of exploring the dystopian society would form under such conditions: the rules, traditions, class warfare, etc.

The not so good

  • The characters are OK, but not great. They aren’t 2D tropes, fortunately, but they don’t quite feel like fully-fleshed out, 3D humans either.

  • The dialog is OK, but not great.

  • The ending is OK, but not great.
