A fascinating look at the Chernobyl disaster. I found it eye opening to see how much of this disaster—both what led up to it and how it was handled once it happened—was the direct result of the utterly corrupt and broken system that was the Soviet Union. It’s a depressing read, showing just how many lives were ruined, and so many of them in utterly futile efforts, but I suppose that is just a microcosm of life in the Soviet Union in general.
