The good
-
A fun world of MI5, terrorism, and intrigue. The focus on Slough House, where they send the “washed up” spies with failing careers, feels like a fresh new angle in this genre.
-
Unique, fully-thought out characters. Jackson Lamb is especially fun.
-
Some genuinely funny moments and dialog.
-
Some decent twists and turns.
The not so good
- The opening and closing chapters are probably the weakest in the book. They use a different writing style than the rest of the book, and I found this style confusing and off putting.
