'61 Hours' by Lee Child
'61 Hours' by Lee Child

The good

  • It’s a Jack Reacher book, which means you get a whole lot of “competence porn”: quick thinking, smart deductions, clever dialog, and a whole bunch of ass kicking.

  • The plot pulls you in, and the writing is clean & effective, so the book is really hard to put down.

  • Everything takes place in South Dakota in the dead of winter, so it’s well below zero and snowing, and you can practically feel the cold in your bones as you read each scene.

The not so good

  • The plot is a bit out there.

  • The finale, as in other Jack Reacher books, is a bit meh.
