'Snapshot' by Brandon Sanderson

The good

  • Intriguing premise of “snapshots” of parts of the world that are reproduced to help investigate crimes. Good exploration of the implications of such a technology on privacy, relationships, self-awareness, crime, and so on.

  • Interesting plot with a reasonably satisfying conclusion.

  • Interesting characters, but due to the shorty story nature, they don’t get developed too much.

The not so good

  • The final twist is fairly guessable.

  • It’s a shame it’s a short story; it would’ve been interesting to see a full-length story in this world.
