A bit better than book #2 in the series, but not quite as enjoyable as book #1. I think there are a couple reasons for this.

  1. The first book wasn’t only about the interaction of Skippy and Joe. It also had other characters and plot lines, at least for a while.

  2. This third book still has a too much repetition of the “I can’t believe a dumb monkey outsmarted me” line from Skippy. It’s not nearly as bad as the second book, where that happened over and over again, and the third book even has the self-awareness to make fun of itself for this repeated theme, but nevertheless it still repeats it several more times.

Nevertheless, it’s still a reasonably entertaining read, with a few fun characters, a few genuinely funny moments, some fun sci fi / tech ideas, and lots of clever military tactics and strategy.
