'Sense and Sensibility' by Jane Austen
'Sense and Sensibility' by Jane Austen

Did not finish. In fact, could barely make it through the first 3 chapters. Perhaps I’m missing some brilliance that comes later in the book, but these first few chapters were painfully dull, with convoluted writing (sentences felt like they were written backwards, yoda-style), lots of tell but not show, characters that didn’t seem to act like humans, and a subject matter that immediately put me to sleep. After blearily reading through several pages of a husband and wife unnaturally discussing the pros and cons of paying an annuity to family members, I gave up, and moved on.
