The good
- A few brilliant/famous parts.
- The allegory of the cave, in particular, is terrific.
- The basic concept of a Socratic Dialogue is fascinating: far easier to read and follow than the typical philosophical prose.
The not so good
- It’s mostly just a guy eloquently agreeing with himself.
- All the characters are flat and indistinguishable, used solely to further an argument. “Why yes of course Socrates; truly; certainly; if you ask me, it could be no other way”.
